What is use of cur, new and tmp folders in the mail directory?  Print this Article

The cur subdirectory is used to store emails which were already viewed using some mail clients like Webmail or Outlook.

The new subdirectory stores emails which are not yet seen by any mail clients.

The tmp subdirectory stores emails which are in the process of being delivered. To put it simply, it stores temporary files.
