Web Statistic Tutorials

Web Statistics allows for the information collected in the access and error logs to be displayed in a more appealing manner. This is much better than trying to read (decipher) the log files themselves.

Web Statistic Program

There is little doubt you are at least a little curious about the traffic that your Web site attracts. Your business may depends on obtaining detailed information about your Web site traffic, and adapting to that information. Statistical information you need is easily obtain to allow you to know about your Web site's usage.

Apache logs all the traffic to your Web site in log files located in your logs directory. There are two log files there, access_log and error_log

These log files contain the volume of activity at each page on your Web site (browsers used, errors users experienced, where users came from, etc).

The actual data logged (viewable and downloadable through Plesk) is cryptic, to say the least. To make any sense of it, you need a log file analysis program to process and analyze it for you. Fortunately, there are two different Web statistic programs available through the Plesk control panel, Webalizer and AWStats. While the information is displayed differently between the two offerings, the basic information from the logs is presented. Choose the Web statistic program most appealing to you and your Web site needs.
