WordPress Themes

Note: WordPress and WordPress Multiple User uses the same themes.

FINDING A THEME

There are many different Web sites offering WordPress themes. Some are free, while others are offered at a price. Here are some resources which offer WordPress Themes

UPLOADING A THEME

Before a theme can be used it first must be uploaded. Upload the entire extracted folder to the following location:

WordPress
wp-content/themes/

WordPress Multiple Users
wpmu-content/themes/

The result should be themes/theme_name/theme_files

ACTIVATE A THEME

Prior to using a theme, it first must be activated.

Themes are available after uploading. Proceed to using a theme below

WordPress Multiple User
On the left side of the page, under Site Admin, click the link Themes. There you will see all available themes. If you recently uploaded a theme, it should be listed there. Click Yes in front of any themes you wish to activate and click Update Themes >>

USING A THEME

WordPress
On the left side of the page, click the downward arrow to the right of Appearance. Click Themes. There you will see all available themes. Choose the theme you wish to use and click its screen capture. In the upper right corner of the resulting page, click Activate "{theme name}". The selected theme is now set as the current theme.

WordPress Multiple User

Choose Themes from the Appearance menu. The themes page will display all themes currently activated. Choose the theme you wish to use and click its screen capture. In the upper right corner of the resulting page, click Activate "{theme name}". The selected theme is now set as the current theme.

DEACTIVATE A THEME

WordPress
Themes cannot be deactivated. To remove a theme, remove the theme from wp-content/themes/.

WordPress Multiple User

Much the same as you activate a theme, click No in front of any themes you wish to deactivate and click Update Themes >>.

Note:If the theme(s) deactivate are desired to be no longer available, you can remove them from the themes folder.
