WordPress Installation

DATABASE REQUIRED

A database is required to install this script. If you have not setup a database yet, please do so prior to installing by following the steps in the database creation tutorial. Once you have setup a database, continue on with the tutorial below.

DOWNLOAD

Download the latest version of WordPress from the WordPress Web site. Extract the file locally to your computer.

CONFIGURATION

No configuration neccessary.

UPLOAD

Generally you will want the weblog to be the main site, so upload all files and folders to the main folder on the server (httpdocs) via FTP.

SETUP

Run the setup by visiting http://www.example.com/

Before you can install WordPress you will need to create a configuration file. Click Create a Configuration File

You will be presented with the list of database items needed to create the configuration file. Click Let's Go!

Database Name: database name
User Name: database username
Password: database user password
Database Host: localhost (should work)
Table prefix: wp_ (leave as default)

Once done entering the information above, click Submit

Informs you that WordPress can communicate with your database. Click Run the install to begin the installation.

Site Title: your blog title
Username: defaults to admin
Password: enter desired password twice
Your E-mail: your email address
Allow my site to appear in search engines like Google and Technorati: select

Click Install WordPress

Your installation is now complete. You will be provided with your chosen username and the password you chose. Copy these down to use to login. Click Login

SECURITY/CLEANUP

None should be needed.
