Pivot Installation

DOWNLOAD

Download the latest version of Pivot from the Pivot Web site. Extract the file locally to your computer.

CONFIGURATION

No configuration necessary.

UPLOAD

Generally you will want the weblog to be the main site, so upload the contents of the extracted folder to the main folder on the server (httpdocs) via FTP. Change the permissions as follows:

httpdocs folder - 757
archives/ - 757
pivot/pv_cfg_settings.php - 646
pivot/pv_cfg_weblogs.php - 646
pivot/db/ - 757
pivot/db/standard-00000/ - 757
pivot/db/standard-00000/index-standard-00000.php - 646
pivot/db/ser_lastcomm.php - 646
pivot/db/ser-dates.php - 646
pivot/db/ser-cats.php - 646

SETUP

Run the setup by visiting http://www.example.com/pivot/.

Screen 1

Set up the Administrator User

Username: administrator username
Password: administrator password
Password (confirm): administrator password
Email: administrator email address
Nickname: administrator nickname

Site Info

Site Name: anything you want
Language: Choose from the dropdown menu

Note: If selecting English, it is recommended you choose English (Use UTF-8).

Click proceed to login

Screen 2

You will now be presented with the administrator login screen. The main page for your new site is not built yet. Log into the administrator area and complete the following:

Rebuild the index by clicking Rebuild the Index
Rebuild the frontpage by clicking Rebuild the Frontpage(s)

Note:If you receive any warnings, make sure you have set the permissions as outlined above.

SECURITY/CLEANUP

After setup is complete, change the following permissions:

httpdocs folder - 755
pivot/db/ - 755
