sorry for the following stupid question (haven't been in the forum for quite a while, so please apologise!

)

Are the mentioned apps now available in the application vault or where have they been updated/included? (just having some issues with the manual installation of Joomla 1.5, so if there's an easier way to get it working I'd be very interested

)

These are listed on the script repository page and are for manually installing. Did you check the Joomla install tutorial? What sort of problems are you experiencing?

Yep, I checked the Joomla tutorials and all sorts of boards etc. as I really don't know what the issue is (after about 10 different successful Joomla installations in the past, this time I'm actually close to giving up ...well, not really

)

On the screen where you can install the sample data, I basically can't go to the next screen - I'm just ending up on a completely blank screen...?!
regardless of:
- whether I install sample data or not (when I try to, I keep getting the following error: "the XML response that was returned from the server is invalid")
- whether I change the table prefix or not (this seem to have been an issue in an earlier release of Joomla 1.5 - but since I've only downloaded the latest release just now this shouldn't be an issue anymore)

But as soon as I hit the "next" button in the top right corner, I keep ending up on a blank screen...

So any ideas on how this could be fixed or where I could find anything that helps me getting through the installation routine is obviously very interesting - hence I was hoping the application vault has been updated

A blank page could indicate a PHP error. Add this code to a .htaccess file to display the errors:

php_value   error_reporting         2047

Is the XML file trying to connect to an outside server? Might need to whitelist something in the firewall.
