Question subdomains

Another newbie question here. With my reseller plan I have unlimited subdomains. Do you need to configure those? Or can I do this in Plesk. I know I should RTM... but haven't seen anything specific yet. Thanks in advance.

You should let the HostNexus team set up subdomains for you, as Plesk has no way of differentiating between subdomains (newsubdomain.domain.com) and new Domains (www.newdomain.com) under the same account.

The best way to do this is to open a support ticket from the main HostNexus site (www.hostnexus.com) and let them know:

* What you want the subdomain to be (eg ????.domain.com)
* Where you want the subdomain to point to (eg www.domain.com/long/url/page.html)
* What type of subdomain you want (eg Frame Forward, where it keeps the subdomain address in the URL of your browser, or Standard Forward, where it just replaces it with the new URL (the one you answered in point two)).

If you set them up yourself in Plesk, it will use up one of your Domains (aka MultiHosts) from the allowance of however many you were allocated in your plan, and it can then be fun and games later on explaining to the HostNexus guys what you've done (as I found out!). When I registered my ticket, the job was done within a few hours, so it's no major inconvenience.

But.........

If Jimbo's a Virtual Reseller with the power to create unlimited domains then he can do it himself.

But any subdomains you create will be taken off you unlimited domain licence.

Talking reseller?

I switched to the February promotion, so I guess I am not a reseller after all. So... do subdomains come off the total of 100 allowed? And which incentives apply for that plan? Is it better to set subdomains myself inplesk? Or to use a trouble ticket as Ausref suggested? Or does it really matter?
TIA

Jimbo

Hey,

You are classed as a reseller now.

If you run out of your 100 domains by using subs, just give us a shout and we'll readjust your account at that time. But for now just add them yourself. It's just the same as adding a normal domain but uncheck the WWW.
