If I were a reseller, I'd gladly test it out for you

Record created on 27-Jul-1992.
Database last updated on 23-Jul-2002 17:07:35 EDT.

Domain servers in listed order:

SNOOPY.ONEZERO.COM 199.242.132.4
AUTH10.NS.WCOM.COM 198.6.100.21

Shame about that and I don't seem to have downloaded it either. How about this one:

http://mhd.sourceforge.net/

Generic version looks a bit basic but I reckon it could be designed to look nice.

Though it's old, it does look interesting. I'll download it and give it a shot (then improve it!) ;-)

Okay, I installed it and tested it...here are my notes on mhd-0.5.6.

1. Has invalid file nmes for anyone who develops on a Windows computer (i.e. all the class.DBI::* files in the include directory). If you're on Windows, you'll have to use WinRAR to get the files extracted, then upload, then rename. That sucks.

2. Config files need their comments updated to be more logical and accurate. The Install file also incorrectly references files by what are apparantly old names. It's also not clear what some files are for. For example the stuff in the docs directory is for IRM (whatever that is).

3. Of course...all the foreign language stuff is fun too :-P

4. After installing, it threw an error because there is a line of SQL in another file that you have to add. On this latest version new SQL stuff was added to another SQL file, but nothing was mentioned in the install file.

5. A lot of stuff doesn't work. Add/modify users does nothing. Same for add/edit departments, etc.

All in all I'd leave this one alone. I'd hoped it would be fairly functional, then I would have just fixed it up, but this is one car that just isn't worth the effort. LOL.

One or Zero's page is back up, so I downloaded it and tried it as well

OneOrZero's Helpdesk was very easy to install, just edit a config file, upload and run the installer. You can even customize the tables names (a plus if you're like me and name your tables to reflect what is using them)! The install program just has a few fields to fill in and it's done. It would be nice to have some explanations in the settings area, but otherwise it has a very nice interface. Definately a very nice helpdesk and it tooks like a good one. I'm implementing it on my site. ;-) It also has a forum tie in, but I haven't tried that yet since I haven't gotten the forums installed. LOL.
