Spam is out of control!

As a reseller (Windows BOSON server), I'm getting some heat from many of my hosted clients about the abundance of spam that they are receiving on a daily basis. I am also experiencing in excess of 600 spam a day.

I've played with the settings for months for each of my clients (and my own domain) to try and find a balance between smaller amounts of spam without missing legitimate emails, but to no avail.

I finally decided to get in touch with Tech Support about the issue after several of my clients were about to walk. Tech support was quick to respond to my request but unfortunately their suggestions aren't a solution in my opinion. They suggested that I use the spam training tools provided in the Plesk control panel. That's fine for my own domain (although it hasn't really worked) but I'm not about to go snooping through my client's email to train for spam. Frankly, I don't have time to do that on each of my hosted clients' domains, nor would I expect my clients to have to have to conduct this tedious task on a regular basis. They trust that their web host can handle this.

Is anyone else struggling with this as a reseller? What are you doing to combat the problem?

Thanks,

Kelly

Can you check your spam filter to see if English is listed as a Trusted Language? This is a common issue.

Hi Laurence:

English is not listed as a trusted language at all. I had made that mistake once before on my own domain but never on any of the others.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Kelly

Could you tell me an example domain name so I can look at your settings and advise?

What I did, is to move the email services to gmail (http://google.com/a). It has been a really good decision. We have now for my clients 7Gb per account, spam filtering, very good webmail (gmail) and acces by POP/IMAP. A lot less calls to fix email problems.

Another advantage is I free up some space taked by emails in favor of hosting space.
