FTP Quick Question
Ok got a quick FTP question for everyone, I know it is possible but I am not entirely sure with Plesk and its capabilities. Is it possible to set up multiple ftp's for one domain, or multiple ftp's for a subdomain which only access certain folders within that sub domain or domain available to them?

Hi,
You are correct. Domains and subdomains all have the Web User feature. A web_user is is a directory outside of the public directory, "httpdocs", and when you create one in Plesk, you are create a separate subdirectory in that directory.
A web_user can only FTP to that directory and they can use cgi etc inside without the need for a cgi-bin.

That wasn't exactly my Question, I was wondering more about say you have folder 1 folder 2 and folder 3 in your root, user 1 is suppose to only be able to use folder 1 and 2, but you want to create a 2nd user who can only access folders 1 and 3. That was more my question, if not I guess I can always wirte a PHP script to do it for me, it's just much easier if you could create seperate ftp accounts for users to be able to access certain things.

My site1 and my subdomain.site1 have 2 totally separate accounts
.. .. 2 root folders .. 2 remote
is that what you're sort of asking ?

Hi,
You can't restrict separate users to folders within the public directory. You can create web users which does the same thing but outside the public dir (root, httpdocs). It's the same thing. You want users exclusive rights to:
http://domain.com/folder1
A web_user gives you:
http://domain.com/~folder1

Ok I think you are still sorta missing what I am asking, I get theWeb User bit, but let me put it this way, can two web users access the same folder, say I have a team of developers, but I don't want them global access t the site only the areas they work on, but some have to work on more then one folder, with the answers I am getting it sounds like no, which I guess will hve to do, until that new one comes out, I may just have to write my own PHP script to do it, and use a Website Interface.
Oh and Thanks

Hi,
It can't be done. the only way you can restrict people to certain folders is in the way that I described previously.

Ok thank you, on the new Interface those poeple are doing do you know ifit is possible with them, it may be up to a month or two before I can actually sign up, but so far I am liking it. Anyways if not I will just build a Web Interface to the server that can be used, and if you don't mind will hand it off to you so your customers can use it, will keep it is adaptable as posssible. Thank You once again.

Still Confused
It was stated:
"You are correct. Domains and subdomains all have the Web User feature. A web_user is is a directory outside of the public directory, "httpdocs", and when you create one in Plesk, you are create a separate subdirectory in that directory.

I don't understand how that would be used. If the site resides within "httpdocs" and the web_user's directory is outside of that, what good is that unless they are adding cgi items and such?
HERE'S WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO DO:
Create subdomains for individual writer's columns on my site, with each subdomain controlled by that writer.
As an example...
I have someone who wants to write about conspiracies. So I'll create a subdomain called "conspiracies.letusponder.com"
I would like to give ftp control to Mr. Conspiracy such that he can change and add to his column whenever he wants without me having to anything.
At the same time, I do not want Mr. Conspiracy to be able to touch any other parts of the site.
Is this possible? If so, do I set him up as a web user and go from there?
