If they are not allowed to sleep, they can't keep on giving 110% support to their customer

I just re-read this thead as I had been been grappling with the confusion of sub directories and sub domains myself tonight
I ended up wrestling it to the ground

(and earlier I zapped off a support ticket when all I had to do was hit the trusty " search " button in these forums )

I'll say it twice

Laurence is right

Cool

I can say with certainty that I have a domain with a subdomain and there is no directory in my domain that contains the files for the subdomain They are totally different animals.
I like the ability to have the subdomains. It keeps things separate and can be an advantage in the SE wars if you choose your subdomains appropriately

of course

and just to make sure I went and checked my domain too and there are no directories in my domain that contain any or even anything even remotely related to the files in my sub domains

but I knew that anyway

and I'm getting with it all now

but anyway, Laurence is right .. he could , I'm sure, explain it quite clearly

Selecting your subdomain based on a *good* keyword for your site can increase the chances of a better ranking much like using domain names with hyphens. I can't guarantee that it will always be that way because they keep changing their formulas and of course each search engine uses their own formula, but I can say that to date your chances are much improved with your keyword in your URL!
