Question Sub-domains in Windows

Hello all. I'm taking over an existing website and need to move it to a reliable and stable host I will be using Windows hosting as the website is built with asp.net. The website currently has a main "section" and 13 "sub-sections" in it, for 13 groups within the main organization. Each group has their own ftp account to upload html into their own little space. Will I be able to accomplish similar functionality on HostNexus? Are sub-domains the best / safest way to do that? I like the idea of using "groupname.website.org" as their ftp address ... much easier to remember than the IP addresses they are using now!

Thanks for any help you can give.

The easiest way is with "web users" as webusers are specifically designed for what you describe. But sub-accounts could also work...

So yes, it's possible. One's a bit easier than the other.

Thank you, Rob! I was not familiar with webusers, and after researching them I see that that is exactly what I need.

Is there a way to set-up Web Users for a specific directory that already exists? If I'm understanding correctly, the web user URLs all have a tilde (~) symbol in front of the directory? What if I already have a directory set-up and in-use and want to have a web-user only access that directory? Can it be done? Like for example domain.com/MyDirectory instead of domain.com/~UserNameHere

No.

You can have the directory redirect, but the user must upload to their webusers directory that is in a different spot. The structure is very different for ftp for webusers.
