site migration from another host provider

Greetings!
I am interested (although slightly terrified) in switching hosting providers for about 10 clients web sites. I've been with the same host for years, and have never switched before. (the host I'm currently with has had 3 server outages in the last week, and my clients are not happy)
Can someone give me a breakdown of what I should do and in what order, so that the transition is smooth... and preferrably without much downtime for my clients web sites and email?
I'd appreciate any help!
thanks
lv

Switching is fairly easy. When you purchase a plan, just mention the fact you need help transferring fomr one host to another. The support team can "wget" the files for you (essentially doing the ftp upload) and if you backup databases, they can have these all up and running. The only "loss" is and database changes made after the backup and before up and running on the new server. It's a nuisance, but not a difficult operation and the support team here can help.

BUT, If your host has been perfect for "years" and now has just one small hic-cup over a week, well, computers go wrong. No matter which host you go to, you can expect 6 hours every few years, sometimes more for the big problems. If your host has genuinely tried to fix the problem over the past week, then ride the storm, let your admins do what they're paid to do and hopefully it settles down again for a few more "years".

If, however, the admins are unresponsive, don't appear to care then yes, move. And move fast. You need admins that do get things fixed when it goes pear shaped.

Thanks Rob,
I think it is time to move on from my current host... They are dropping support for anyone using asp or asp.net... they will still host the sites, but I've been told I would be pretty much on my own.. and although I SHOULD learn something new, I just do not have the time.

Should be quite a simple procedure. Make sure you have all your domain's data backed up and when you open an account here, create your domains in Plesk and upload your data.

Yes, it "should" be... but I'm having trouble of course!...
Ive been through numerous emails with HostNexus tech support, and my problem seems to be that I have to set up dreamweaver site definitions differently than I did with my old host.... I've posted another post in the general discussions area,
if you know anyone fluent in Dreamweaver site definitions for ASP VBscript sites, I think that is the issue.
