http://mail.domain.com

This has just been raised by someone I host for. Just wondering if this is me, or is a trouble ticket situation (anyone else get it?)

If you plug in http://mail.flashguardian.com you get the page for http://www.lwoodbridge.com (not very exciting pages, so no need to bother unless you are investigating.

Does anyone else have a similar situation? Anything I can do about it?

If I go to mail.eclectic-world.com I get the Plesk Default page...I don't think mail is supposed to be an active subdomain, beyond email usage, though.

That's what I thought - but still wonder if I've done something on the setup somewhere.

I'll raise a ticket (need to reduce TTL to get all my IPs togehter anyway).

Cheers

mail isn't an active subdomain, as it simply has an A record. It seems to default to what ever domain has been set to the default for the particular ip address or the default plesk server page if none is set.

Correct Mike. And TTLs are permanently low now anyway.

OK - thanks again to all of you. I'll dig and swap all my IPs anyway...

To get rid of the default domain for an ip, here is a simple way (if you have more than just the default server ip available):

From the main page in Plesk, click IP Pool in the right frame. Click the number at the far right for the ip address you'd like to see what domain is set to default. The default domain will be in bold (if one is selected).

Clicking the domain name will take you to the main page for that domain. Click Setup. At the top of the right frame you will see the IP address assigned to that domain. Drop that down and select one of the other ip address. Scroll down and click ok.

Once back at the main page for the domain, repeat the process and change it back to the previous IP address.

This process will clear the domain from being the default and cause mail.anydomainonip.com to go to the server default page
