SSL Certificates

I just went through the process of installing an SSL certificate that we had previously purchased from our old hosting provider. After a little stumbling, I figured out how to upload the certificate files and associate it as the default SSL for a given IP address.

While I don't need it right away, what I couldn't find was a way to associate the certificate with a single domain. If I have two or more domains on the same IP is there a way for each of them to have their own SSL certificate?

Perhaps I am just missing something real obvious.

Regards,

Britain

Nopes, they need their own IP to have separate certs. You control which cert a domain uses in the Setup area.

Ok, thanks.

As far as the "setup area" - are you talking about clicking on "Setup" from the domain area of Plesk? For me this always presents the current SSL certificate as text, not an editable field (e.g. dropdown box).

The only way I have found to select the certificate is via the IP Pool button at the client level of Plesk. Which makes perfect sense if the SSL certificate has to be on a dedicated IP anyway.

Britain

If you have multiple certs setup on the domain, you will have a drop down box in Setup.

I have two certs set up on one domain but the drop isn't showing up. I will go ahead and put a ticket in for it.

Certificate Question (Continuation)

Reading these posts it sounds like only 1 domain/site can use an IP for secure transactions via SSL properly. So if this is true that you can only have 1 certificate on 1 IP that will actually work, then how do you go about securing Ecommerce websites who cannot share a certificate?

Britain,

How was your problem resolved?

I believe the answer was that if you customer wants an eCommerce site with their own SSL cert, then they will need to purchase an additional IP address.
