Plesk 9 - FCGI?

I noticed that you've started upgrades to Plesk 9 on some of the shared linux servers.

As I understand it, Plesk 9 allows apache to run as FTP user with FCGI similar to what suPHP can do.

Have you considered this for your shared servers?

I'm using suPHP on my dedicated server, but I'm wondering if maybe getting rid of suPHP in favor of FCGI would be easier to maintain?

Any thoughts on this?

By FCGI I'm assuming you mean Fast CGI (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm seeing here three options for running PHP under Plesk 9.2.2: Apache Module, Fast CGI application, CGI application. As for maintainability, I cannot answer that.

Yes, Fast CGI. My understanding is that it is possible with FCGI for files created by PHP to be owned by the FTP User instead of apache/nobody/whatever the default is.

I may be way off base here, this isn't my area of expertise.

You are correct. Both CGI and FCGI will run php under your own username (If I recall correctly) . Fast CGI is just faster.
