The themes tutorial has been updated to show how to use manage themes in both WordPress and WordPress MU.

I am confused about this wordpress stuff....I see in Plesk that it is there.... do I still have to go through all the steps for installation that is in the tutorial? I thought that was the point of having it already on the server as it was easier to use? duh. I know.
2nd question....lets say I do use it from my website/hosting account.....it doesn't like take over my current website does it? Can it be a part of it or does it have to be the whole thing?

WordPress does not have to take over your entire site. I have my company WordPress setup under /blog (see my signature) but the rest of the site is mine.
Yes, the one in Plesk is suppose to make things easier, only it seems to only be an older version, so the manual install is your best bet.
If you need any assistance or want me to help set it up for you, drop me a PM.

Thanks Mike. I will probably take you up on that help! For the meantime I opened up a blog at the WP.com site to see if I liked it, etc. before messing around with my hosting site... I can always do an iframe and stick it into my site!

Hi Reena!
In this thread we are talking about something different from everyday wordpress
With the wp you're talking about, you install it in another directory so it doesn't take over your site
Have a play with it at wordpress . com and you'll see the simplicity and potential of the platform. Then you'll be hanging out for your own self hosted version.

WordPress or WordPress mu (Multiple User) can both be installed as your site or in a subfolder. But yes, we have been talking about the multiple user version which allows you to have multiple WordPress blogs from one installation (like I have setup over at Small Net Biz
Most likely Reena would want/need to use the basic WordPress (single blog). This would allow you to setup your own blog and use any of the available themes out there.

Thanks Mike and Susanna.....after playing around with WP.com I do like it! very very cool..... I bought the WP for Dummies book to read up on it a bit more...
and yes, I do realize NOW that this thread was about the MU (which I didn't know what it was when I posted my first question) just saw it talked about WP and to make me sound even more ditsy, I came in on the last page and didn't even realize that there were like 3 pages of the thread....

I am working on creating a list of tutorials for useful tasks such as adding post/link category, setting a default post/link category, adding/activating plugins, adding/activating themes.
I already have a few items written up, which will be coming here, to do items like using your current site as a template to create a basic wordpress theme.
Exciting things are coming in the second half of 2009.
