It's been a few weeks since our last announcement and we have many new developments so definitely time for an update.
Network Outage....
Firstly, many apologies for today's unexpected downtime event that lasted around 50 minutes on all servers. Our data center had a planned network maintenance window and somehow notification of this work did not reach us. I am trying to find out exactly where the breakdown in communication was and make sure it doesn't happen again.
Plesk Upgrades....
It's time to upgrade all Plesk linux servers to the latest release of Plesk 7 called Plesk Reloaded. Reloaded offers an even nicer interface and skin selection plus a few new features that will be of great use to resellers (ability to turn features on and off inside a domain etc). We have Reloaded running nicely on Iota and Lamda and don't anticipate any issues. However, after you have received word that the upgrade is complete on your server, I urge you to flick through your sites and ask your clients do the same just to be sure all is okay.
We will upgrade Sigma first in the early hours of the morning on the 10th (essentially Wednesday night in the US, Thursday morning in Europe and Thursday early evening in Australia). Alpha to Eta will be done 24 hours later (on Thursday night in the US, Friday morning in Europe and Friday evening in Australia). Zeta, Theta, Kappa, Omikron and Atom will be done 24 hours later (on Friday night in the US, Saturday morning in Europe and Saturday evening in Australia).
Please allow up to 40 minutes downtime while the upgrades take place but I anticipate downtime will be less than half that. Windows servers are not affected by this upgrade.
Windows Support....
We have created a new area in our helpdesk for Windows clients as we have a different team handling windows support. If submitting a ticket manually, you will see an option for "Windows Support" so if you're on Neutron or Proton, please submit tickets there for the fastest response. Alternatively, you can email
winsupport@hostnexus.com and it will create a ticket for you. If you are emailing in requests (and this applies to all clients on Linux or Windows), be sure to include your server name as that speeds up things for us.
New Spam Filter now on Windows....
Clients on Proton and Neutron will have noticed the new link in their control panel for the Spam Filter. This is especially exciting for us as Plesk for Windows does not even include an end-user Spam Filter and even if it did (like on Linux), our custom solution has more options.
New Plesk Usage Monitor....
Many of you remember or still use the old Plesk usage monitors developed by a now extinct site called MatrixScripts. The developer didn't update the script since Plesk 5 so when Plesk 6 and then later versions were brought out, some parts of the script lost functionality.
MatrixScripts is now completely dead hence there is little hope for an update so in conjunction with long-time HostNexus member, we have decided to code a new script and offer it to our resellers or any of our clients as the stats it's shows would be very helpful. The script is still in development but I have posted some screenshots here:
