Gamma server issue

As of a few minutes ago, Gamma is not responding and we are getting the data center tech to look at the box.

Okay......

it appears that the server has developed A.I. It has decided to take itself offline and run a full bounce backup. I think the script that runs the backup solution has an error in syntax or in the crontab.

All will be revealed whaen the box comes back in a few minutes.

Sheeeesh. The backup stalled midway and now we had to reboot the box and start it again as their is no decent backup of data on this disc.

Sorry about this, it's killing me. Seriously thinking about reverting to tape.......

I assume you will follow-up on this one and figure out exactly what the problem was? Wouldn't want this to happen again next week, just signed up a new large account for a year...

It's been 2 hours already and I am getting calls from my clients.
Why is the backup being run in the middle of the day? Shouldn't that wait for late at night?

This is not a normal occurence. I'm expecting the server to come back online very soon. The first post explains why this backup is happening now.

Just heard that the backup stalled in the same place so there is obviously a fault in the backup drive. We are going to troubleshoot the drive for about 20 minutes and will then bring the server back online in 30 minutes. We won't attemp another backup now and will run one at the normal time of 1.37am.
