Nexology - October 2009

Our new newsletter is out:

Nexology - October 2009

Been meaning to send it out but we are struggling to code a version that will display correctly in HTML email. It's proving quite a challenge.

I have HTML turned off in my email - I think everybody does

And most of us read online now. Can I read it on your fanpage?

I'll give it one more stab and if not I'll just send a Newsflash with a link.

Fanpage, yeaaaa, it's on there. Good luck finding it.

For HTML, because of Outlook 2007, you need to fall back to 100% tables layout. This also (luckily) nearly makes it work with other clients by default. It's 10990's style of coding, but that's how Microsoft want it...

Backgrounds don't work if you have content in the cell. Do all styles in-line. There is a special trick involving display block for images. Specify the size of all cells and images and you should be fine.

It's a pain, but the page you have is doable.

Yes, your struggle was unsuccessful. It's not readable at all in email. The link to the Web version is the one useful thing in the email.

Those are all straight Web email, not standalone email applications. It didn't work in Eudora. Eudora does read HTML mail. I get some newsletters done through Constant Contact, which are pure HTML, and they come through beautiful. Maybe you are trying to be too fancy with it?

Thanks for the heads up. I'll add Eudora to this list of things it needs to be compatible with.
