Summer Ends Soon

We're near the end of summer...

I'm so eager to get Ruby & Rails "on steroids", as I had to find other hosting solutions (which were so much not HN -- tho one was nice, I must admit, but still)...

So, either the big changes are close, or you should change the deadlines on the home page again? Sooner, this time...

Thanks for everything nonetheless.

Gemp,

Beleive me, they are coming. Although, we did seriously under estimate how long everything would take.

Improved email solutions.

Forwarding is very limited feature, there is no setting that forces it to automatically delete a copy. Thats pretty common.

Better spam filtering.

Email / Dns: Spf records and reverse dns

One of my old hosts automatically installs spf records/reverse dns for each domain. That was a nice touch.

Somehow, several of my clients found out about dnsreport.com and it says fail on several dns settings. I cant figure out how properly configure them via plesk dns editor. Support tells me the dns is fine. Yes, its ok .. but its not really how it could be set. These are 2 dns settings here.. what do they need to be. Please publish a tutorial or make that info really easy to find.

When those settings aren't perfect.. it affects email delivery rates.

I agree. The default email setup is a problem.

9 out of 10 complaints I get are about their emails getting junked or too much spam. ( im not just talking about hn here ) .. in general, I think that hosting companies disregard the importance of helping companies maintain email communications. Ive had clients who dont even care if the site is online, but keep sales@ working or you will have the hounds released. Pretty simple, and going the extra mile there makes customers know they can base their business from your computers.
