someone should edit "coming in Nov" on HN homepage
Btw, in the leftmost column of HN's homepage
the "coming in Nov" needs to be edited/removed
so as to prevent a mild impression of PR sloppiness
with respect to prospective new customers who
surf there.

I was in fact a prospective customer, but details like this and the postings in this forum advertising imminent big changes that do not ever actually materialize have been unencouraging signs. The 'imminent update' that we are supposed to be watching for here has not occurred.

Just wanted to say that I've been here for 3 years and I could not be any happier with the quality of the management here, uptime stats, speed and quality of replies to tickets (of which in my case there have been only 1 or 2 a year), and so on. Top notch webhost, imo. Only the recent extremely rapid growth of HN has occasionally caused a small spike in issues, all of which were handled very quickly and professionally. I too am looking forward to the improvements that are pending, which include upgrades to disk space allotments, to backup methods, and many other things needed to take HN to the next level of what is really already outstanding service for the $$. Prior to discovering HN (I located it by reading Laurence's and others postings about HN at WHT 3 years ago), I had back to back horrendous experiences with webhosts. VERY glad I came here.

Thats encouraging to hear. As a prospective customer though, since HN seems to be in a state of flux currently, I think its wise to wait until things stablize before I sign up. It would help if more updates from the management regarding the upcoming changes or delays would occur here.

tknterry,
I've been here a little longer than three years, and one thing I've learnt is that Laurence and crew are always late with the big plans <grin>; and not by just one month. Usually the plans grow bigger and bigger and day-to-day running the company always takes priority.
There have been delays whilst all the servers have been moved to a private rack to improve services plus several servers have been replaced and upgraded. The original developers for some of the new features failed to deliver the quality expected, and that's added delays whilst it gets sorted.
It's not flux - it's called keeping the status quo and improving the everyday things. All in all, best to get it right, than risk a business over getting it wrong.

Changes announced as coming normally do come, although sometimes delayed. They could wait until the last minute to tell us, and thus be pretty sure of a firm date for implementation, but isn't it better they try to tell us well in advance, although that often means the projected time frame for implementation will change before it's done?

Our plans were all started with the best intentions, I assure you. After investigating all of our options, we created a game plan of items that had to fall into place before the actual features (in this case VPS and Ruby on Rails) could be added to our offerings. Unfortunately, many of these items either did not come to fruition or were lacking so that we felt it would cause a negative impact on our superior service and support.
Since HostNexus built its reputation on its services and support, we could not allow that to happen. However; we obviously did not communicate this well at all. I apologize for that.
We are still going to be offering VPS and Ruby on Rails in the very near future. What we will not do is offer either without having the proper support in place. That being said, we are actively seeking technicians to add to our team who have the expertise we will require. There are also a few other issues we need to work through before we can legitamately offer these new services. We hope to have all of this together and available before the end of this summer.
I promise that as this comes together, we will keep everyone informed via this forum.
Thank you for reminding me of the statements on the main page of our web site. I have since updated it. This reminds me - we have a new and fresh web site coming soon! Laurence (NexDog) is hard at work putting it together. I am very excited about it as it is so fresh, clean and different from what we have now. It is very sharp!
Also coming are a slew of new purchase incentives and hopefully a referral program.
We have been and are very busy working on all of this - working to make HostNexus an even greater place to be than it already is!
I do appreciate everone's patience and promise to keep you all up to date here.

Thanks for the update
Hi Mike, thanks for the update!
A tiny typo alert for you: this sentence in
the spot on the HN homepage you just updated:
"our RoR hosting will running on.."
should be, I presume,
"our RoR hosting will BE running on.."
