It is happening but it's a very complex proceedure. We have to write programs to copy IPs over and we have to have the new racks setup so we never encounter power or network issues. Each rack has its own switch and some testing has indicated we need more power so that is being laid down now.

Other things we are doing are setting 2 private networks for linux shared/reseller and windows shared/reseller - each one connected to another switch and backup server for our ultimate backup system. If it works well we will add a 3rd network for linux dedicated and as our windows dedicated fleet increases I hope to add one there too. But on the managed dedicateds this will be an add-on service as this setup is quite expensive.

The servers will be moved in December for sure. January 1st will see the latest incarnation of HostNexus that is bigger and better and the new racks and networks is the backbone of the great service HostNexus will become. New site will be launched then along with VPS and RoR solutions and some fun stuff like promotions and competitions. Also most plans will be revamped and limits boosted as industry standards have changed dramatically in the last 18 months. Hopefully they'll be a blog and a regular HTML newsletter too.

I'm really looking forward to focusing all my energy on HN in 2007.

It looks fascinating Laurence and thanks very much for the update. When my current webhost contract runs out next February, I plan on switching over to HostNexus. It will be interesting to see what the plans are like after they are revamped. Does Hostnexus run its own datacenter?

Good luck to all HN staff. I KNOW what you are going through with this huge project and I understand the stresses involved in it. So without any delay I want to Bless you with this so that everything runs smoothly and no detail is accidently overlooked. Prepare well by good planning even if it takes more time and is tedious. In the end you (and us) will reap the benefits! But ultimately you are the guys having to go through the stress...

Warm Regards
Web Freak

Yep, it's taking a while as we want to be thorough. Thanks for the encouragement.

Terry, we don't run our own data center but we are one of the biggest users at FortressITX - a data center in New Jersey. Because we are one of their biggest and oldet clients they want to look after us which is why we now have own designated section of the DC. Two racks at the mo but space for lots more.

I should have a positive date in a few hours. It might even be tomorrow. I was told 5th or 6th by Bogdan but I need to talk to the head honchos at the DC myself. Watch this space for an imminent update.

yes can you give an update on rails hosting? I'm really looking to get this going, considering switching hosts to get support but, want to find out the status first.

thx
