Post Server OS Reload Rescheduled

As many of you might have realised due to the lack of a downtime event yesterday's scheduled OS reload did not go ahead. Instead we spent the time applying various fixes and clean-up tasks hoping that it would make the reload unnecessary. But after a reassessment today we are not 100% satisfied that the server is clean. A server OS reload will be necessary and I will organise a time with the admins and let you all know when it will be.

Thumbs down Lepton appears to be down again.

Lepton has stopped responding again.. Has it succomed to it's injuries?
When can we expect the system back up?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you are aware, we have been talking about having to reinstall the operating system on LEPTON. It has to be done fairly quick due to its current deterioration. As such, we will perform the OS reinstall at 04:00 USA Eastern time, Wednesday May 28, 2008. We expect it to take about five (5) hours to complete.

We have made all efforts to solve this servers issues without having to do this, but it is just not possible. Because of its current state, we also cannot wait any longer. We scheduled this at a time that we hope will be less intrusive to most clients.

We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. You are the best clients in the world!

Going to be alot longer, at least another 4 hours because for some reason the data center still hasn't completed the OS reload and then we still need to restore data....

I agree. What is the deal with the lack of updates? We were originally told this would be completed in the middle of the night/very early hours of the morning to minimize downtime and now it's been all day. I am praying this isn't going to be a repeat of last year where we were down for several days. I can't afford that!!

even if hardware needed replacing, it should have taken a fraction of this amount of time.
