Question Copy database?

I want to make a duplicate of my present database temporarily while I tinker with a software upgrade. I can't seem to get the import function to work.

Is there a way I can restore a backup into a new, clean database?

You would need to create a new database through the CP (Plesk) and import through phpMyAdmin

Could I get the link for it?

I'm in deep trouble with one site and I'd better get the database down before I do anything. I should have printed it off earlier

When I started off looking for this, there was a link that someone had put up a couple of years ago, but it was a dead link.

Regardless, the eventual answer that I got was that it's not possible to do this myself through the plesk, and I had to start a ticket to get it done. So, for Susanna, I'd say that if you need something other than a backup, it's probably a good idea to crank up a ticket at your first convenience.

I just want to back up, but I may add that to my existing support ticket

No problem. Backing up is easy as can be. Just log into your plesk, then click on backup manager:

Then click on "backup" and give your backup a name. You can even tell it to e-mail you when it's done, which could be almost instantaneously to an hour or more, depending upon server volume and how much stuff you have to actually back up.

Now, I have automatic backups scheduled, which is easy to set up, too. I have my db automatically backed up every night at 2:00 in the morning or something like that when there's basically no traffic at my site, and I've got it set up to keep the last three night's backups. So every night, it automatically creates a backup of that day's activity and it also throws out backups more than three days old.

Makes me feel a lot more secure. If something bad happens, at worst I could lose one day's worth of data, rather than the whole nine yards.

They are all under the phpMyAdmin section here:
Support | Tutorials | Phpmyadmin

Sorry for not posting this earlier.
