Oke Doke. I have backed up all my dbs regularly but now .. I want to put a databse that I have downloaded into another place.

Do I make a database in the new place and then upload? (well of course I do but..)

The database has a name, so I make a new database in the new place and call it by that name ?

Then I upload via webadmin, the db that I downloaded from elsewhere, into the new place?

Am I right so far?
I believe the database can be called whatever you desire (as long as it's name is not already used by someone else on the server). Then simply follow the restore directions under the database backup and restore tutorial. You're getting it pretty good there Susanna

Yep, database name is merely configured in the applications config file.

I'm not actually restoring per se

I'm moving a database from one place to another
I'm moving a site, you see

So I am on the right tram then?

Yea, pretty much. If you have to use a different database name or user just put that in the script's config file.

You're still "restoring" whether it's from a backup of an existing database or moving from one place to another

I put this (a bump) back up near the top so I can access it myself personally

I was going backwards and forwards finding this thread as I forgot how I did this back-up last time. And now I'm moving a couple of sites again

I backup the forum and ticket databases daily using a simple cron. I then have another cron that tars up the directory that they get dumped into. And then I schedule FTP to upload it to a remote storage location with other files. All files are backed up to 3 locations actually.
