SSL & Subdomain

Just wondering what the process would be for setting up SSL on a subdomain using Plesk.

I am guessing the following, so please correct me if I am wrong:

1. Add IP Address
2. Add subdomain
3. change dns record for subdomain to point to new ip address.
4. Add certificate with subdomain.domain.com as domain name.

hmm, that's about all i know, so can someone give me some more details that I am missing. just want to make sure i request the right certificate details and all that so I can get it setup correctly.

Thanks

Feelan - Just curious how this is working out for you...in case I want to do this myself someday.

If it was me, I think I'd set up the subdomain as a full domain (via clicking Add New Domain). Make sure it's unique on the IP and then generate the CSR from the certs section.

That is the conclusion I came to as well, to set it up like a normal domain and go from there.

Thanks for the input.

Is this still recommended (adding a subdomain as a full domain)? I'm trying to create an SSL certificate for my subdomain and this thread caught my eye.

I've already created an actual subdomain under the main domain, had a DSN created for ColdFusion and the site is up and running. I'd hate to have to set this up all over again. I'm using my subdomain as my 'staging environment'.

Thanks!

Yep, for SSL it's the only way on a subdomain. So delete or rename the subdomain before recreating it as a full domain or you'll have some DNS fun and games resulting in a probable disappearing website.
