Is OS Commerce for me?

Good afternoon,

I've been very busy these past few months and am now ready to start selling my own products online.

I am starting to move my own products into my online store, using the Paypal "catalog" but it's very restrictive. I need to have dropdown menus for size, color, image name, etc... Payapl does not allow this Sooooo, I have some questions about OS Commerce and hopefully someone might lead me in the right direction.

I print t-shirts, mousepads, bumperstickers, keyrings, etc.... and I have some questions, listed below:

1. Is OSC compatible with both Paypal and 2Checkout.com or do I have to have a separate OSC store for each?

2. How hard is it to install? I don't have the experience or time to be spending a lot of time installing it. I think I can add my products but not install it.

3. Is it possible to offer both retail and wholesale pricing or would 2 stores be required?

I thank you for any help.

Hey Fred.

I've installed OS Commerce for a couple of clients.

It's sorta easy to install. Customizing it for the look and feel that you want is another story.

On one customers I had a Wholesale and a Retail catalog.

Yes, two different installs unless there is another way I didn't see.

I believe there is a pay pal checkout built in. Can't tell you about the other one

I've always used the customers own merchant account.

I personally think the zen cart is easier to work with. There are options to have paypal and other processors as choices for the customer under one installation. Product attributes (dropdowns for size and color etc are available) Multiple product images are allowed. There is a module that should accomodate multiple pricing schemes... wholesale/retail in the same installation. Many shipping options and a very user friendly admin. It is based on os commerce but has been improved for those less technically inclined. Visual appeal for either cart will be the big issue.

Both are available to install via the application vault at HN but I believe they need to be upgraded to current version.

Thank you Lee and Debbie,

Where would I find these programs in the application vault? Is this something that I must install or is it something that HN could do for me as I'm not to good at installing.

I have a program which would enable customers to download their files to me but I am having a hard time installing it, even though it is simple. I'd rather print a t-shirt instead.

I thank both of you for taking the time to answer me.
