Post Plesk 9.2 Upgrade, Friday August 14th 4am (US EST)

Plesk 9.2 Upgrade, Friday August 14th 4am (US EST)

This is a significant change as Plesk 9.2 looks somewhat different to Plesk 8. Version 9 has been out for over 6 months and we have it on other servers and it's now time to deploy across all servers. Plesk 9 gives us the opportunity to switch mail servers from Qmail to Postfix which is less resource intensive and gives us better anti-virus tools at server level. Plesk 9 allows Overselling so longer will clients have to juggle their disk space and bandwidth allocations and it also comes with the new Reseller level where you can create Client Accounts and assign multiple domains to each. Until now resellers have been limited to assigning client access per domain only. Plesk 9 also allows you to choose SquirrelMail or Horde webmail in Plesk. I believe the default skin will be a Vista type skin but you can change this to a more familiar XP skin (or whatever type skin you've been using).

It's a big upgrade so there might be a few issues afterwards. I urge everyone to check everything after the upgrade to make sure things are in the right place. As always please do submit support requests if you find issues. Please allow 40 minutes for this maintenance window.

I've been playing with the demo on the Plesk site and it will take a bit of getting used to but it is great from what I've seen.

The best feature is grouping of domains by client. All of one clients domains can be put under their account instead of listing them all separately.

I'm sure there is more functions I've not seen yet but this one is very nice.

We had a few issues with Leo's 9.2 upgrade 2 days ago which put us behind schedule. Taurus was done today instead of yesterday and Cancer will be done tomorrow at 4am. So this is just delayed by 24 hours.

Yea I'm in now.

This interface looks a bit different than the demo I was playing with.

I have several customers who have several domains.

The one I was playing with would let you group customer domains by customers instead of a long list of 60 or more domains in a continuous list. Or,,, maybe I've not found it yet.

I can't find the webmail default setting.

My customers HATE horde, and I do too, so where is that setting for default webmail?

Lee

NEVER MIND found it..

For those looking for this option, I have put up the basic steps under a newly created Plesk section for the Tutorials. This is not meant to replace the manuals under the documents section, but to assist in those common tasks without wading through the entire manual.
