I have an account with you with domains joms.net and maktrans.com

You have sent me a message that you will be discontinuing nameservers. How does this impact us? What do we do? How do we check if our nameservers are the ones being discontinued? How do we change our nameservers

It would be nice if you would include instructions on how to view/change our nameservers. I went to the plesk panel but I couldnt find any option to change it or even view our nameservers. where is it located?

    • joms.net and maktrans.com use:

      NS.CONTROL-ACCESS.COM
      NS2.CONTROL-ACCESS.COM

They are both registered at Godaddy.com so log in there and change your nameservers to:

      ns17.dns-shield.com
      ns18.dns-shield.com

      No downtime required.

    Hi Laurence.
I tried to use the bulk change over function, and I was told that the new zeta dns: ns25.dns-shield.com
was not a legal dns for te .ca .net and .org domains.
Thanks in advamce for any help in this regard.

    • Andre, I just tested it on hostnexus.net and it worked just fine. Try it without the bulk change function.

Laurence, I changed all the domains over, at nexusdomains.net. The ones I did not change, I will let lapse.

I do not have them at nexusdomains yet, and I am waiting for the renewal date, as they are domains that I took over from someone else, and I do not want to incur a fee befoe it is time. The renewal is in September. Can I wait untill then, or should I change it now?

      • Andre, looks like you already updated the nameservers on those domains. :)

    Hi,

I help a friend with her website (www.choosecra.com). Her activation e-mail says we have these servers:

    Primary name server: ns.control-access5.com
    > IP address: 69.72.165.84
    > Secondary name server: ns2.control-access5.com
    > IP address: 69.72.165.85

We hosted them with Nexus Domains so do I login there and change them to:
    ZETA

    ns25.dns-shield.com
    ns26.dns-shield.com

Just wanted to check to see if I understand correctly.

After we switch the server thingys over, how long does it take before they catch up to the rest of the net? Is it 24 hours, 48, or some other number?

    • Mitch, it depends on the registrar and can be anything from a few hours to 48 hours. However, there is no downtimne when you switch.

    Hi Laurence,
I put the new nameservers in, but enom automatically switches them so that the larger is first

    ns30.dns-shield.com
    ns29.dns-shield.com

That’s how they’re sitting once I save. Is that ok?

    Thanks in advance
    Janet
